How to send large files in Microsoft Teams
Inside your organisation, put the file in the team’s Files tab, which allows up to 250 GB. For a chat attachment Teams caps files at 100 MB, and people outside your organisation can only get files the way your admin allows. A transfer link works for anyone.
The limits, in numbers
| Teams chat attachment | 100 MB per file, 10 per message | Microsoft Learn |
|---|---|---|
| Teams Files tab (SharePoint) | 250 GB per file | Microsoft Learn |
| Microsoft 365 work email (default) | 35 MB per message | Microsoft Learn |
| Yungle, free | Up to 10 GB per transfer, kept 7 days, no account |
Limits from each company’s own help pages, checked on 13 October 2026. They change; the linked page is the authority.
How to send it

Questions, answered.
Ask us something elseWhy can’t a client outside my company open my Teams file?
Sharing with outside people depends on settings your Microsoft 365 admin controls, and often needs a guest account. A transfer link needs no account at all.
Where are Teams files stored?
Files in a team live in SharePoint, and files in a private chat in your OneDrive. Yungle stores files on servers in Germany, always encrypted.
Can I see whether the file was downloaded?
On Yungle, yes: you can see when your recipients have downloaded it.
