What stays your responsibility
- Whether Yungle meets your professional secrecy and data protection obligations is your assessment to make. We provide the facts and the data processing agreement to make it with.
- Ordinary files are encrypted with keys Yungle holds, which is what allows virus scanning and previews. Use an end-to-end encrypted transfer or the vault where that is not acceptable.
- Yungle holds no certification of its own. Our host, Hetzner, runs ISO 27001 certified data centres.
- Your retention periods. Set an expiry, or delete files when a matter closes; we do not decide that for you.
- Yungle runs on a single server with no service level agreement.

Ordinary files are encrypted with keys held by the service so they can be scanned for viruses; nobody browses them. For end-to-end encrypted transfers and the vault the key never reaches us, so we cannot open those at all.
Where is the data processed?
Files are stored and served from Hetzner in Germany. Nightly database backups go to an EU-jurisdiction bucket at a second provider. The processors are listed in the privacy policy.
Can we prove a client received a document?
Transfers record download receipts per recipient, so you can see who downloaded the files and when.
