Keep it somewhere safe. The vault takes no files until you confirm you have it — that is how seriously we take “we can’t reset it”.

Your passphrase, never ours
The key is derived in your browser (PBKDF2, 600,000 rounds). Only the result can open the vault.
Sharing is impossible
No links, guests, passwords or public pages. The database refuses them outright.
Locks itself
After fifteen minutes without activity, the vault locks and you type the passphrase again.
Yours, even in a team
Colleagues in your workspace cannot open it. The vault belongs to you, not to the account.
Nothing expires
Files stay in the vault until you delete them.
No separate allowance
It uses the same storage as the rest of your account, so there is nothing extra to keep an eye on.
What the vault deliberately doesn’t do
- We cannot reset your passphrase. Lose it and the recovery kit, and the files are gone — that is the point.
- Files in the vault are not scanned for viruses or previewed, because we cannot read them.
- The vault is not reachable through the API, the CLI or the MCP server.

You unlock it with the recovery kit you saved when you set the vault up. Without the passphrase or the kit, nobody can open the vault — including us.
Can my team see what is in my vault?
No. The vault belongs to you as a person, not to the workspace. Colleagues in the same account cannot open it.
Is the vault end-to-end encrypted?
Yes. Its key is derived in your browser from your passphrase and never sent to us. The rest of Yungle is always encrypted with keys we hold, which is what allows previews and virus scanning.
