Why can’t I attach a 2 GB file to an email?

Email services cap a whole message at around 20 to 35 MB, and attachments grow by about a third when they are encoded for sending. A 2 GB file is far past any of them, so the usual answer is a link to the file instead.

Can I zip it to make it fit?

Zipping only shrinks files that are not already compressed. Video, photos and audio are compressed already, so a 2 GB video stays close to 2 GB zipped. It still needs a link rather than an attachment.
