How big will the video file be?

A video file is roughly its bitrate multiplied by its length. An hour of 1080p at YouTube’s recommended 8 Mbps comes to about 3.6 GB. The same hour as a 4K ProRes 422 HQ master comes to about 398 GB. Pick a preset or type in your bitrate.

Leave empty to use the format.

Estimated file size

600 MB

At a constant 8 Mbps. Presets from YouTube recommended upload encoding settings and Apple ProRes White Paper (April 2022).

Questions

Ask us something else
Where do the preset bitrates come from?

Delivery-file presets are the top of YouTube’s recommended upload bitrates; ProRes presets are the target data rates in Apple’s ProRes white paper. Your camera or export settings may differ: if you know your bitrate, type it in.

Why is my file smaller than the estimate?

Many cameras and encoders use variable bitrate, so quiet scenes take less space than busy ones. The estimate assumes a constant rate, which makes it a sensible upper bound for planning storage or a transfer.

How do I send a video this large?

Send a link rather than an attachment. Yungle sends up to 10 GB per transfer free, keeps folders intact, and uploads resume if the connection drops.
