How to send large podcast audio files
Send uncompressed WAV through a transfer link and keep MP3 for publishing. An hour of 48 kHz, 24-bit stereo WAV is about 1 GB, too big for email but quick to send as a link, and Apple Podcasts and Spotify both accept WAV uploads with no stated file-size limit.
The limits, in numbers
| WAV 44.1 kHz, 16-bit stereo (arithmetic) | About 10.6 MB per minute | |
|---|---|---|
| WAV 48 kHz, 24-bit stereo (arithmetic) | About 17.3 MB per minute | |
| Apple Podcasts | Accepts WAV, FLAC or MP3; 24-bit recommended | Apple Podcasts for Creators |
| Spotify for Creators | No file size limit; MP3, M4A or WAV | Spotify for Creators |
| Yungle, free | Up to 10 GB per transfer, kept 7 days, no account |
Limits from each company’s own help pages, checked on 13 October 2026. They change; the linked page is the authority.
How to send it
- 1Export each speaker’s track as WAV, named so the editor can tell them apart.
- 2Put them in one folder and drop it on yungle.co.
- 3Send the link to your editor. They download everything in one go.
Questions, answered.
Ask us something elseWAV or MP3 for my editor?
WAV. Every edit and export to MP3 loses a little quality; give the editor the uncompressed originals and publish the MP3 at the end.
How big is an hour of WAV?
About 640 MB at 44.1 kHz/16-bit and about 1 GB at 48 kHz/24-bit, both stereo. Separate mono tracks per speaker are half that each.
Can guests send me their recordings?
Yes. With a file request link on a paid plan, guests upload straight to you without an account.
